Havana’s Cozy Lounge Restaurant: Azucar Lounge

Azucar Lounge

Located on the second floor of one of the newly restored buildings that surround the Plaza Vieja in Old Havana, this loud, funky and eclectically decorated lounge-like restaurant commands one of the most envious views of the landmark square  from its terrace.

The restaurant offers quick lunches and dinners, served with baguettes, all very straightforward. Dishes on the menu range from chicken breast to Serrano ham. The starters seem to be a little more elaborate and diverse,  so diverse that you can order ceviche and falafel. With such a range, simplicity often works best. We ordered a chicken breast baguette, which was  a bit dry and slightly cold. The pesto pasta, however, was fresh and delicious. The place also offers varied selections of rums and cocktails. In any case, this is a cool place to come in early evening to enjoy the view, sip a refreshing cocktail, or smoke a cigar on the terrace if you are so inclined.
