A new Italian restaurant in Old Havana: Il Rustico

A new Italian restaurant in Old Havana has arrived. Il Rustico is opened with the Sicilian chef Fabio Palazzo, who is also chef of Casa Nostra. Located a few steps from San Juan de Dios Park, which an upcoming area, Il Rustico is situated among many other bustling restaurants and shops. Minimalistic style and rustic Italian décor lend Il Rustico sophisticated warmth. With a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant specializes in thin-crust pizzas, focaccias and scacciata, which are all baked in a wood-fired oven. Combining the best ingredients and expert culinary techniques, Il Rustico’s pizzas are not to be missed. Made with daily fresh dough, the pizzas boast a thin and crunchy texture. It would be a mistake to pass up the Sicilian scacciata with fresh broccoli and homemade sausage, as well as the casserole with parmesan, mozzarella and provolone. The latter pairs beautifully with the rosemary focaccias. For a sweet ending, order the delicate Sicilian cannoli, which literally melts in your mouth. There is also a lovely cheese platter with cold cuts, and a collection of Italian and Chilean wines available.
