Totó e Peppino

totoepeppino

Totó e Peppino is a small, cozy and conveniently located Italian restaurant in Havana with an elegant, discreet and clean design, and a dedication to authentic Italian creations that put the fast-food joints to shame.

From any table you can see the exceptional pizza makers through large crystals making their pizzas in the wood-burning oven. And of course the pizzas here are amazing, with lightly charred, thin and airy crusts, true to the Neapolitan style. The standard margherita is delicious with a fantastic tomato sauce, but so too is the one with extras, such as raw prosciutto, arugula and parmesan. If you are in the mood, ask about the fried calzone – I don’t know another place in town with this dish on the menu. Fresh pasta is another of the house specialties; very al dente, yet delicate and delicious. The spaghetti carbonara and the fusilli four formaggi were top quality. The service is a little slow, but the staff is pleasant. The food is reasonable priced, as is the wine list.

When it comes time to pay the bill, the waitress offers a kind of bingo game to play; if you hit the right number dinner is on the house! So good luck when you visit.
