Otramanera: is quite a distinct dining spot in Havana

Wine lovers, take note. Otramanera’s owner is a Spanish sommelier, who pays special attention to his wine selection. For Cuban standards, the restaurant has an excellent wine list, offering a wide variety of reds, whites and sparkling from all over the world. The standouts include: 2007 Vega Sicilia Unico Gran Reserva, 2011 Vega Sicilia Tinto Valbuena 5, and Chassagne-Montrachet (both red and white). Those who enjoy a Cuban rums and ice-cold cocktails, fear not. There is also a nice collection of premium rums and luscious concoctions for you to choose from.

Otramanera is quite a distinct dining spot in Havana. Minimalistic décor with charming modern touches, it is a classy restaurant where everything is in sync. While it is elegant and spacious inside, Otramanera’s entrance is adorned with a beautiful willow tree. And when you step into the dining space, the dim, romantic candlelit setting immediately invites you in to enjoy your dinner. Cozy and warm, Otramanera would be a good date night option.

Here, the dishes are sophisticated and contemporary. The small gourmet menu offers innovative flavor combinations. Try the appetizer which comes with quail eggs roasted over a mushroom and sweet potato nest. For the main dish you must go with the beef cooked at low temperature over roasted potatoes and caramelized onions, it is sublime.

Without a doubt, Otramanera won our hearts with its excellent wine list — definitely one of the best in town. They manage to get around the difficulties of provisioning in Havana, featuring a lovely varied selection of quality wines. Coupled with full-flavored dishes and warm setting, Otramanera provides a great dining experience. We highly recommend it.
