Galería Villa Manuela

Galería Villa Manuela

Under the influential Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), Galería Villa Manuela in Vedado, has been pushing the boundaries of creative arts in Cuba since its inception in 2004. Giving a platform to some of the country’s young artists who are graduates of the Instituto Superior de Artes (The Superior Art Institute), the exhibition highlighted at this year’s Art Biennial is a series of provocative art installations by 29-year-old artist Mabel Poblet, who used visual overlays, videos and media projections to present her take on how the Cuba-US relations affected lives across the Florida Straits. Capable of hosting large solo shows and group exhibitions, the art space was recently renovated to incorporate an assembly plant, a supply store and a bookstore. The gallery is closed on weekends.
